2007 Tournament Report

Lake Champlain - Jul. 21, 2007

Champlain North Worth the Trip. Mike Caudle Kicks Butt

Only eight guys made the trip to Lake Champlain, but those that did enjoyed a great day on the lake. After a cool, wet, windy and foggy Friday, Saturday's skies were clear and fairly calm, especially early in the day. Air temps started about 60, and warmed to about 80 by weigh-in time. Water temps were in the upper 60s to low 70s.

Six limits were weighed and the big bag went to non-boater Mike Caudle with a total weight of 15.23 lbs. The runner-up was another non-boater, Shaun Moser, with a total of 13.90 lbs. Third place and lunker went to John Shpack with a total of 13.67 lbs. and a big fish of 4.32 lbs. However John's third place finish didn't prove a big enough margin for him to overtake Mark Donovan in the 2007 Angler of the Year battle. It's also worth noting that this is the first time non-boaters have finished 1-2 in a club tournament. So congratulations to all of you, it's well-deserved!

A total of 31 fish were caught, 8 largemouth and 23 smallmouth, for a total weight of 79.25 and a hefty average of 2.56 lbs. per fish.

Our next tournament is the first of our 2008 schedule, on Wequaquet, September 22.
